REASONS I LOVE TIKTOK + WHY YOUR BUSINESS NEEDS TO BE THERE!
It’s 2022 and I sincerely hope for your sake that TikTok is not the elephant in the room in your business!
It could be argued that TikTok is the most important platform that you need to create community and build credibility in 2022 and beyond!
Let me share what I love about TikTok and some simple, game changing facts about the platform that will get you there if you’ve been avoiding it!
Tiktok is a space for pure authenticity (no more curation)
If you’re someone who worries about having your content be beautiful, aesthetically pleasing and feel overwhelmed by getting dressed up just to create content for your Instagram you will LOVE tiktok. Tiktok can smell inauthenticity from a mile a way and it just does not stand for it. Which is actually wonderful for creating content with ease and gentleness! This means you can create content more quickly and easily without having to stress about whether it’s beautiful or not.
This platform is about being transparent, honest, real and relatable which means it gives you the space to be more authentically expressive and simply allows people to fall in love with you rather than some curated version of who they think you are!
In my own content creation and in the experience of those who have taken my Conscious Tiktok Growth Training this aspect of TikTok has made content creation not only a more pleasurable experience but its also boosted self-confidence!
When we stop trying to be someone else, or fit into a mould of what we think people want we realise how powerful and valid our authentic voice is already.
Organic growth still exists there!
Right now on Instagram your content is being shown on average to 4% of your viewers and get this - the more followers you have this number goes down! So if you have 100 followers, only 4 of them might be shown your content in their feed! Huh! No wonder your metrics have been down (don’t beat yourself up about it!). On TikTok there is no algorithmic glass ceiling for your content to hit - basically if your content is well received from your following it will continue to be pushed out to new viewers and introduce you to new potential clients or community members.
Speaking from my own experience - real talk - get this - in the last 6 months my Instagram following has dropped by a little over 200 followers (lots of reasons for this and it’s not surprising to me!), in this same exact period of time my TikTok following has grown by over 20,000 new audience members! In my first 10 months of being active on TikTok I’ve gained almost 47,000 followers, in about 5 years of trying to grow my Instagram following it’s still just over 10,000 (I love my established Instagram community but I also understand that my work is incredibly valuable and should be helping more people!)
It’s rivalling Google as one of the most-used search engines on the internet… yes you read that right.
“TikTok is not just surpassing other social platforms, in terms of global internet traffic, but is becoming more accessed than Google and its suite of services, including Google Maps and Gmail.” - via Forbes
Do I really need to say anything else? To make it clear, if you are offering a business that you expect people to search for on the internet - you have to be on TikTok (aswell) because this is now where people are searching!
Let’s talk about the shelf life of content on TikTok
One of the most powerful things about TikTok for small business owners (especially women who are pulled in so many different directions) is that content has a significantly longer shelflife or lifespan. What does that mean? It means when you write a brilliant post on Instagram, you’ve created an impeccable graphic that might be sent to your 4% of your followers and they’ll only have it shown to them for 1 day, maybe 1 week if it’s a reel.
TikTok on the other hand will organically push your content out to new audience for months or years after you posted - and this is the important part - even when you’re not actively posting!!!
So that means you can literally take a 3 week digital detox and your account can grow exponentially while you’re not even online, this is exactly what happened to me over the 2021 Christmas period, I took 3 weeks offline and came back to an additional 8000 followers.
Can you see how spacious and important that is for sustainable, soft and intentional living? And being an embodied business owner?!
Users spend significantly more time and are more engaged there than on Instagram
Is Instagram the new Myspace? Who knows? Is Instagram dying? The stats don’t point to the opposite! Instagram is becoming more of a business card, a check-in point for the credibility of your business and a space to nurture your current following but in 2022 this is not a space to find new clients and become visible to new people! Users are spending more time scrolling and are more active on TikTok than Instagram - so you’d better at least have your hat in the ring!
** And if you think TikTok is for children you are stuck in 2019 - the fastest growing demographic on the platform is 30-35yos, get with the times!
